I grew these roses ALL BY MYSELF   !!!

Aren’t they beautiful!

Summer flowers are wonderful.

And here is Makita, our calf. Stephen named her after his tools  (I know, Steve’s pretty original isn’t he!!)

Christina is leading Makita down the lane, and Makita doesn’t.want.to.go.

And, yes I have been stitching! I promise to give an update. Tomorrow.

Right now I am stitching Carriage House Samplings Swan and loving it. I haven’t forgotten my other projects though and I am so glad it’s summertime so that I can catch up on my much neglected wips!

I ordered Tanya (Sampler Girl’s) new design and can’t wait to get it. Her designs are wonderful, especially the Austen ones which I love.

Three things today I am thankful for are 1. the color red! 2. baby animals 3. time to stitch

Good News and Resurrection

I’ve had a sore throat since Thursday and on Saturday was dismayed to see my tonsils inflamed with spots… which probably meant strep.

Rested a lot this weekend (and looked up needlework blogs!) Decided yesterday (Sunday) that I will head to urgent care first thing Monday morning.  But I’m so much better now! It’s a relief, I know now it’s viral and I won’t need an antibiotic. I had taken vit. c all weekend and I think the extra rest knocked it out.

Here’s my progress on Resurrection:

This is one of my favorite pieces! I am enjoying it so much.

We are going camping for a few days and I doubt I will get much stitching done. But I have been so inspired by the work I’ve seen on stitching blogs. I’m so glad it’s summer!

Thankful for today (I wonder if Joanie is still doing this….) 1. campfires 2. creativity 3.  summer days

I made a baby quilt for my niece. She just had a little girl. It’s been quite a while since I’ve been sewing.  I’ve forgotten how much fun it is!

I love the colors in this one and the thread makes them stand out so nicely. There are so many beautiful variegated threads now.

I may do some more quilting for a while…and keep my cross stitching for the evenings

Love Metta

I started “Metta Putfarcken” from Sabine’s website (Samplers Berlin). It is going to be huge! I love the color red, and seeing everyone’s work in the Metta gallery on Sabine’s site is so inspiring!

I did a few test stitches. I love every color so I am waffling about starting this because I haven’t settled on a final color yet.

It has been busy lately and we are camping this week (starting today) but I will write more soon! We’ve had lots going on, weddings, funerals, and a big 25th anniversary weekend! In between we finally got the garden in.  But life should calm down soon…after my son’s graduation

Memorial day, 2009, is over.

It is a day dear to my heart. My dad served in Italy during WW2 and my uncle also.

May those who fight for freedom never be forgotten. May our country continue to protect the freedoms and privileges earned so bravely by those who have gone before us.

I love this one!

I am having a dilemma wondering what accent color to stitch the alphabet letters in.   I like the green, but I think I like the mauve better.

The main color is hand-dyed fibers Indigo Ocean. It’s stitched on chai tea jobelan and is working up so nice!  It’s one I work on when I need a break from the intensive solid stitching on “Resurrection”.

It’s been busy lately!

Spring finally came. Gardening, greenhouse shopping, patio cleaning, and in between, stitching!
Here is my Resurrection update:

 

 

I am enjoying this one so much. It has so much meaning for me right now. Hubby lost his best friend at work, very unexpectedly, last week. This was after my uncle passed away, a childhood friend also passed on and we found out dh’s aunt has cancer.

What would we do without the hope of eternal life (which Spring is a good reminder of…)

I hope you are getting some stitching time in, in this busy season!

We had a wonderful Memorial day picnic at the Legion and my kids sang “The Star Spangled Banner” for the flag ceremony. It was great having time with neighbors, many of whom we met for the first time.

I started Examplar Dames’ Resurrection. The colors in this are so pretty.  I am really enjoying stitching this!

We had a family wedding on Saturday (it rained all day but didn’t matter since we were inside anyway!) and last weekend was Mother’s day, so there have been lots of weekend family things going on. But life is slowing down a little now (until graduation time in June!)

It has been cold here for Spring and I haven’t been able to set out my flowers yet.  Too many frost warnings! Hopefully it will warm up soon.

I hope you are getting a little time to do some stitching in between the busy-ness of life and family!

Happy Mother’s Day to everyone!

I have been blessed with a mother who nurtured and cared for us every day of our lives. Not everyone has had that in their life, and my heart goes out to those of you who have missed the comfort of a real mother’s love.

Whether you are a mom or not, I do hope that you celebrate the gift of life this day.

Resurrection

I ordered Vilma’s new chart “Resurrection.” That came today with the silks for it from Vikki Clayton’s Hand-dyed fibers.

They look awesome!

Now I just have to choose which linen to do it on.

This was a wonderful time for the chart and silks to come. We’ve had a tough time lately with the passing of a good neighbor friend (went to the funeral last weekend),  losing my uncle this week, and now finding hubby’s aunt is in the hospital for surgery and she may not pull through.

I cannot wait to stitch this piece. The hope of the Resurrection and eternity in a heaven without pain or suffering is an incredible gift.

Three things I am thankful for today are 1. spring rains  2.  small blessings like new stitching stash! 3. eternity
